Our Puppy Is GROWing

Tessa, our border collie puppy, is now a little over 6 months old. She is a bundle of energy that just loves to play. She is learning how to catch a frisbee (and is getting pretty good at it), going to obedience classes, and getting bigger every day. Here are a few pics:

I finally finished a new song! It has been a very long time since I posted any new music here, but I hope that I can change that starting with this new one. It is a trance song with a story about Charles Blondin, who, on June 30, 1859, was the first man ever to cross Niagara Falls by tightrope.

I know it has been a long time since I have produced any new music or posted anything here, but I have not given up on this blog or on composing. I just have not been able to find the large blocks of time I need to be able to actually put something meaningful together. But recently, thanks to a couple of very nice e-mails, I was inspired to finally finish a new song which I will be posting very soon. It will be called “Tightrope Walker” and will include a short story about Charles Blondin, who, on June 30, 1859, was the first man ever to cross Niagara Falls by tightrope.

About a week ago, we went to pick up our new puppy, Tessa. She is an 8 week old, black and white border collie. She is a sweet, lovable, bundle of energy. We are very happy to have her in our family!

Well, it finally happened. I knew it would happen someday. The modest ranch style house that I grew up in has been demolished and a monster size stucco souffle has been put in its place. *sigh*

Noir

Noir, meaning “black” in French, is the title of a Japanese Animation that my husband and I just recently finished watching. It is a 26 episode series spanning 7 dvds and is the story of two young female assassins. I won’t say any more about the story because I wouldn’t want to spoil it for anyone who might be interested in watching it. I will say, however, that it is probably one of my favorite anime series and I would definitely recommend it.

Along with a great story of friendship, loyalty and forgiveness, beautiful animation and a talented voice cast, this anime has one of the best soundtracks that I’ve heard. (Now, I’m not going to compare an anime soundtrack to an epic movie soundtrack because that would be apples to oranges, but just to other anime soundtracks.) The music is a strange mix of electronic and opera, combining haunting vocals with a trance style beat. I found the creativity of the music inspiring and the melancholy mood it set to be fitting. For me, the music of Noir promotes thoughtful reflection and encourages my own creativity.
